There are many ways to enjoy photography, a simple birthday party of a child or relative or a sunny day out at the beach. These memories are things to be treasured and kept, some of the time these type of photo are blown up to become framed wall art or part of a bound photo album. For this purpose you’ll need a good camera that can take high quality pictures that will print at a good resolution, the higher the resolution of the picture, the bigger it can be blown up and reproduced.

To get the full colour and depth from a digital photograph it’s best to get a camera with a high megapixel rating, the more pixels in the photo, the highest the resolution for printing. This is a key feature with most modern high end digital cameras and one which has become a large selling point for the manufacturers. The great thing about a good high end digital camera is the ability to manually change the presets and tailor the cameras features to work best for you. Some of the key features in a high end, high quality digital camera are variable shutter speed, ISO settings, Scene Modes and Flash modes.

Having a variable shutter speed will enable the user capture high speed action without blurring; this is ideal when taking pictures at a sporting event or even a family pet that is moving quickly. Most high end digital cameras will give you the option to alter the shutter speed manually to get the perfect still image you require. The ISO settings of a camera operate how much light is let into the lens; this is perfect for a dimly lit situation without the need to use a flash setting, it is a great feature but it does not mean that simply because a camera offers a very high ISO setting that your image will come out noise free, you are still going to get very small artifacts appearing on stills while using high settings.

Even though high end digital cameras have more advanced features than a normal compact they still come with the all important preset scene modes. These can come in very handy for people not wanting to spend a lot of time adjusting their settings for a particular scene, be it outdoors in low light or taking a photo in the snow or of a firework in the sky. Some good cameras will have scene modes to shoot any typical situation with the proper preset parameters to get a great photograph. Flash modes are also very important when you’re using a camera that not quite as professional as a digital SLR. In order to remove red-eye or to capture lit-up buildings in the dark, a good flash mode will do the trick every time. It’s important to check if the flash mode you’re using works for how far away you are from your subject or scene, if there is nothing for the flash to reflect off your photo will come out dark and distant.

With so much to choose from it’s very easy to get confused when dealing with the array of high end digital cameras but as long as you balance up the different features, resolution and zoom properties you’ll now be able to make an educated choice when it comes around to buying yourself a good solid digital camera that will provide you with fantastic photographs for years to come.
